Artvark Saxophone Quartet & Nyk de Vries
Harmonious and at the same time bleak and growling. Artvark and poet Nyk de Vries alternate between raw and poetic in Tagelyk. Tagelyk, Frisian for ‘simultaneously’, brings together two worlds in surprising ways, spoken word and music. De Vries’ lyrics form a mosaic of characters and events in which the once rather seedy Rotterdam peninsula of Katendrecht is linked to the equally headstrong Frisian village of Zwaagwesteinde, where Nyk’s mother grew up. In spring 2023, Tagelyk will be released as an album and book in one. This will be followed by a series of live concerts. Tagelyk came about at the initiative of and in cooperation with Poetry International.
